MUSIC

Trained as a classical violinist and pianist, Ben subsequently studied jazz piano and pipe organ. Their lifelong pursuit of musical excellence has led to intensive and ongoing studies of improvisation, jazz theory, gospel piano, pipe organ performance, and choral arranging for both sacred music and musical theatre. They have a special love of genre mashups that combine musicality with comedy, as well as transcribing classic film scores for pipe organ.

Ben has played keys for the Wet Spots, the Red Delicious Trio, the Little Red Studio Band, and the reboot of the Leisure Suit Larry video game, as well as playing solo concerts in the United States and France. They also recently transcribed and harmonized the melody for a new song that Mel Brooks left on a friend's answering machine.

Ben's sacred music can be watched weekly online on YouTube at Shaughnessy Heights United Church (pipe organ) and the St. Brigids contemporary Anglican service at Christ Church Cathedral (piano). They perform two musicals annually with the Broadway Chorus (music director) and sing for half of each year with the Universal Gospel Choir (tenor).

Selected compositions and arrangements are available here for free for non-commercial and liturgical use.
